New engine mounts, custom extractors and gearbox from a S4 to get the shifter in right spot. Rest of the work is pretty basic swap stuff.

Custom made, if you're handy with a welder and have basic metal fabrication skills it won't be too hard.

For the facts, read this. NCOP is supposed to be implemented in QLD by the end of June

http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/veh...es_3Feb2006.pdf

According to these guidelines, the largest turbo engine you could fit would be a 1.9L which would rule out all turbo rotors. Largest NA engine would be a 2.3L which would allow you to fit a 10A rotor, but not a 12A or 13B.
I have worked out these engines based on a vehicle weight of 780kg. If the heaviest model option was 800kg, you could legally fit an NA 12A.

Is it a STB or FA3TS? If you dont know, look at the vin no. on the firewall drivers side.

They are nearly the same to convert, only need to do afew things differently. It's the same as converting 808's and 323's.

You'll need (presuming it's a FA3TS. If it's a STB, only afew things will change);

- an RX3 engine crossmember, it mounts on the swaybar bolts. You'll need to cut the piston engine mounts off the 1300 suspension crossmember.

- A radiator and oil cooler. RX3/4/5/7 series 1/2 will do the job.

- Clutch Hydraulics. 1300's were cable. rx3/4/5/7 Series 1/2/3 will do the job.

- You'll have to wire in the twin coils. Easily done.

- You'll be able to modify the existing gearbox crossmember to suit.

- Electric fuel pump, fuel pressure reg (depending on pump). fuel return line (optional, but recommended)

- Exhaust headers. RX3/4 will fit. Exhaust runs on the other side compared to piston.

- Tailshaft

- bigger brakes would be a good idea laugh.gif

That's a quick list. If you let me know the model of 1300 and what engine/box (out of what car) you are going to use, I'll be able to give you a specific list. If you or anyone else need any more info, send me a PM or post here. I've done this conversion 10+ times.

There are 2 different types of S4 5 speed boxes. Turbo and Non turbo.

The non turbo box is the same as rx7 series2/3. The turbo box has a different shifter housing (amongst other things) which mounts the shifter alot further back (same with S5), and will need the extension housing shortened to suit.

Gearboxes to use that come through the hole would be a rx5 5 speed or rx7 series 1 5 speed (basically the same box). A rx7 series 2/3 and 4 non turbo, would need about 2 inches taken out of the hole, towards the rear.

This is assuming you are using a RX3 engine crossmember, which mounts the motor towards the front. Alot of people make their own mounts, and tend to mount it more rearward, which makes the shifter sit too far back.

Like MobileMekanix said, 13b isn't legal. but in saying that I recently got my 13bt Series 2 RX7 approved, so it depends on the engineer. Just don't get put over the pits laugh.gif
