The first Time Attack Day of the year done and dusted with an event generally on every month one at QR and one at Lakeside, there was a good mix of cars out there today and most days.
General info for those wanting to head out and have a go are as follows -
Track Day Info
On Track FormatThe day is run as a timed sprint event, where cars are spaced on the track, and overtaking is only allowed under controlled conditions to maximise safety (see track day rules).All car makes and models are welcome.
Each session on the track is made up of cars with similar lap times to minimize overtaking and maximise your chance to achieve your perfect lap.The events are held at:
Queensland Raceway which is on Champions Way, just off the Cunningham Highway near Ipswich. Approximately 20 minutes drive from the intersection of the Western Freeway and Ipswich Motorways.
Lakeside
You will require a AASA license which costs approx $55 (annual) and can be bought on the day from the office.
Track Sessions generally there will be 10 cars per set on the track, with 4 sets of cars per 1/2 day (approx only 40 cars). This makes for a lot of room on the track for each driver to have the best chance to set their perfect lap time.Under normal conditions you can expect to get 5 sessions on the track for a half day.
Under normal conditions you can expect to get 4 sessions on the track for a half day.
Electronic TimingTrack Day uses the transponder based electronic timing system.At the end of each session a printout of the lap times will be available.To get timing you will need a West Holder Timing transmitter. You can rent it on the day for $20 or buy for $95 from the race track office before the event. A Lapceievr which provides instant in car lap times can also be Purchased for an extra $85 which works with the Westhold system.
