I reckon this event needs a thread of its own. It was awesome to be there.

I'll let Mel or Ben tell the full story though.

In Darwin, Australia,
we recently got a Datsun 1200 set up for drag racing, as well as a Toyota Landcruiser that has been set up as a Mud Racer, and let them do burnouts on top of a 34 storey building.
SCUD (the Datsun 1200) was driven by Ben Simpson
the Pirtek/Sunbuild Landcruiser was driven by Chris Sunners

the whole conversation can be found at
http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....howtopic=326935

this all happened at 5pm on friday the 22nd of August 2008

Tim (zmit)

Awesome job. Pics look great. Would have been great just to see the smoke pouring off the roof top.

How did you guys get permission to do all this?

Hi all
A huge thanks to all who attended today and offered their support and kept their fingers crossed!

Huge thanks to zmit and vh-holden for their fantstic photography and video work.
Another thanks to Chief Pit crew Unreal - who keeps Scud going and going all the time!! And makes her look good too....

And lastly the biggest thanks to the Chris - who came up with this crazy idea of chucking two cars up on a buildings roof - all 34 stories up in the sky and letting some skids happen. beer.gif
We still have no idea why it happened but damn it was awesome and a great show for everyone - whether on top of the building or watching miles away in the street....

We have no idea if this is an Aussie or a World first - but who cares really it was just great to do it and be part of a different experience!

HHmmmmm what to do now??? dunno.gif

Ben and Mel
Team SCUD!

it was all organised. And done very safely - hence the chains to hold it into place and the fire crew present.

Also thanks to Mel Edwards who threw away her fear of heights and got up in the crane!!!
