Up for sale is my 1990 Mazda MX-5 in Mariner Blue with 154,000km on the clock.
Unfortunately no service books with the car although the last 15 years of work has been carried out by Total Mechanix in Collingwood, Victoria by the previous owner. The mechanic has verbally confirmed he serviced the car regularly but doesn't keep any records himself. Three owner vehicle, previous lady owner purchased it in 1990 from Brighton Mazda.
10⁄1990 Compliance - Elligible for Club Rego in November.
Mariner Blue in colour
1.6L manual
154,000km on the odometer
Victorian Registration until 26th Feb 2012
Aircon that works perfectly
No power steering
Completely stock except for some random kenwood CD player that doesn't work 100%. Has a dim display.
Colour coded hard top
Rust free. When I got the car it had a small amount of rust in the A-pillars and firewall. I paid a workshop to professionally remove this and paint the a-pillars. Also had a new windscreen professionally installed and sealed at the same time.
Soft top is there and works well apart from two rips on the normal spots either side. The rear window on the soft top is glass, I believe the roof was retrimmed in the last 10 years.
Interior is clean as can be expected on a 25 year old car. No rips or cracks, steering wheel is in good condition as well.
Just had a proper roadworthy quote carried out on the car. It will be getting a full major service due to the missing service history so spark plugs, timing belt, water pump, oil filter, air filter, & fuel filter will be changed. Mechanically speaking it needs a rack end & rocker cover gasket which will both be professionally changed.
Car is what I would describe as well above average condition. The paint is not faded and still has a shine. Up close there are a few of bird sh*t stains on the bonnet⁄bootlid and scratches on the roof from when it was in storage. I've had a professional duco touch up artist go over these with a brush and to be quite honest you don't see them unless you are looking.
The car is advertised at $7990neg with registration and RWC. There are not many clean, rust free, unmodified NA examples with the matching hard top, long registration and legitimate roadworthy certificate available at the moment and judging from the market over the last few months my price is realistic with appropriate margin to negotiate. I've put as honest an ad as I can particularly highlighting the flaws over the positives.
I don't have the time to waste with people wanting to offer unrealistic prices after a test drive so please let me know if you are wanting more than a few hundred off the price before coming to view.
